    Is Prostitution Legal in Austria?

Prostitution laws in Austria have a unique structure that balances regulation with protection for those involved in the sex industry. Understanding the legal framework around prostitution in Austria is essential, whether you’re a resident, a visitor, or someone interested in comparative legal systems. T

his article breaks down the key elements of Austria’s prostitution laws, offering a comprehensive overview of what is legal, what is prohibited, and how the government manages this complex sector.

Overview of Prostitution Laws in Austria

Prostitution is legal and regulated in Austria, but the laws vary by region due to the country’s federal structure. Each of Austria’s nine states (Bundesländer) has the authority to set specific regulations, which means the rules can differ significantly depending on where you are. However, some core principles apply nationwide, such as the requirement for sex workers to register and undergo regular health checks.

The Austrian approach is grounded in harm reduction and public health, aiming to protect sex workers while controlling illegal activities often linked to prostitution, such as human trafficking and exploitation.

    Registration and Health Regulations

One of the most important aspects of prostitution laws in Austria is the mandatory registration of sex workers. To work legally, individuals must register with local authorities, which involves providing identification and undergoing medical examinations. These health checks are designed to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and ensure that sex workers receive regular health support.

Failure to register can result in fines or other penalties. Registered sex workers are issued a license or permit, which they must carry while working. The registration process also helps authorities monitor the industry and combat illegal activities.

Legal Age and Consent in Prostitution

In Austria, the legal age for prostitution is 18 years old. Engaging in sex work below this age is strictly illegal and treated as a form of exploitation or trafficking. Consent is a fundamental aspect, and all parties involved must be adults who freely agree to participate in the transaction.

Authorities impose strict penalties on anyone who coerces or forces individuals into prostitution, emphasizing the protection of vulnerable groups. This is part of Austria’s broader commitment to human rights and combating trafficking networks.

    Prostitution Venues and Zoning Laws

The regulation of where prostitution can take place is a key part of the legal framework. Many Austrian cities have designated zones where sex work is allowed, often referred to as “red-light districts.” These areas are monitored by the police and local authorities to ensure safety and compliance with the law.

Brothels and other commercial establishments must also comply with local zoning laws, which can include restrictions on location, hours of operation, and hygiene standards. In some regions, street prostitution is permitted under certain conditions, while in others, it may be restricted or banned.

    Taxation and Social Benefits

Sex workers in Austria who are registered and working legally are subject to taxation like any other self-employed individuals. They pay income taxes and social security contributions, which entitle them to benefits such as health insurance and pensions. This formal recognition helps integrate sex workers into the social security system, providing a degree of financial security.

The taxation system also reinforces the legitimacy of legal prostitution and helps fund public services related to health and safety in the industry.

    Illegal Activities and Enforcement

While prostitution itself is legal, many associated activities remain illegal under Austrian law. These include pimping, human trafficking, exploitation, and operating unlicensed brothels. Law enforcement agencies actively target these crimes to protect sex workers and uphold public order.

Authorities also crack down on illegal prostitution, which often operates underground without registration or health checks. Such activities pose significant risks to sex workers and the community, as they are linked to crime and exploitation.

    Support Services for Sex Workers

Austria provides various support services for sex workers, including health clinics, counseling, and legal assistance. NGOs and government programs work together to ensure that sex workers have access to resources that promote their well-being and safety.

These services emphasize voluntary participation and confidentiality, aiming to empower sex workers to make informed decisions about their lives and work. Support programs also play a crucial role in helping those who wish to leave the industry.

    Recent Developments and Public Debate

The prostitution laws in Austria have evolved over time, reflecting changing social attitudes and policy priorities. Public debate often centers on balancing regulation with individual freedom, protecting vulnerable persons, and addressing issues such as trafficking and exploitation.

In recent years, there has been increased focus on improving working conditions for sex workers and strengthening measures against trafficking. Some regions have introduced new regulations to tighten controls, while others have emphasized harm reduction and support services.

    Conclusion

Prostitution laws in Austria present a model of legalized and regulated sex work that prioritizes health, safety, and human rights. While prostitution itself is legal, it is closely monitored through registration, health checks, zoning laws, and taxation. Illegal activities related to prostitution are strictly prohibited and actively prosecuted.

Understanding these laws is crucial for anyone involved in or studying the sex industry in Austria. By combining regulation with support and enforcement, Austria aims to create a safer environment for sex workers and reduce the negative consequences often associated with prostitution.

  • Street Prostitution in Vienna: Why It Should Be Banned and Nightclubs Are the Better Alternative

Street Prostitution in Vienna: Why It Should Be Banned and Nightclubs Are the Better Alternative

Austria has one of the most open legal systems for prostitution in Europe. In Vienna, sex work is legal as long as workers register, complete health checks, and operate within regulated environments such as brothels, private apartments, or nightclubs.

Street prostitution, however, is still allowed in certain zones of the city, especially near the Gürtel road and in parts of the Prater district. While the idea is that regulation makes it safer, street prostitution remains a controversial practice.

Compared to other forms of sex work, it exposes both workers and clients to humiliation, danger, and poor conditions. This article explains why street prostitution should be banned and why nightclubs offer a much better alternative for both sex workers and customers.

Why Clients Should Avoid Street Prostitution

Low Quality and Unsafe Experiences: Street prostitution attracts a type of customer who is usually not looking for quality. Unlike high-end escort services or elegant nightclubs, clients on the street are often looking for the cheapest option.

Can anyone imagine a millionaire with refined taste searching along dark streets for a sex worker? Most likely not.

This means that clients choosing street services are more likely to encounter unsafe conditions, poor hygiene, and potentially exploitative arrangements.

Constant Police Controls: In Vienna, police regularly monitor the zones where street prostitution is legal. They check paperwork, registration, and health cards.

For customers, this creates an intimidating atmosphere. A simple encounter can turn into questioning or public embarrassment.

In nightclubs, clients enter a safe, discreet environment without constant fear of being interrupted by police checks.

Hygiene Problems: Street prostitution often takes place in vans, cars, or other makeshift locations. These places rarely meet even the most basic standards of cleanliness. A mattress in a shady van does not compare to the clean, maintained rooms of a licensed nightclub.

Customers not only risk their comfort but also their health when choosing the street over professional venues.

Why Women Should Avoid Street Prostitution

Humiliation and Lack of Respect: Standing on a street corner in full view of strangers is humiliating for many women. Unlike a respectable, organized job, it reduces them to objects under public scrutiny. In nightclubs, women can work in an environment where privacy, respect, and professionalism are emphasized.

Exploitation by Pimps: Street prostitution almost always involves pimps. They claim to be there for protection, but in reality, they take a large share of the women’s earnings and limit their independence. In licensed nightclubs, workers are free from this direct control. They can keep their own money, work with management under fairer rules, and enjoy greater autonomy.

Don’t miss this article to know how you can recognize a pimp-controlled situation:

Unstable Earnings: Street work is unpredictable. Weather conditions play a huge role. A rainy or cold evening means fewer clients and less income. Nightclubs, on the other hand, operate indoors, with steady customer flow and more reliable earnings. Women working in clubs can plan their finances, while on the street every day is uncertain.

Police Stress and Legal Pressure: Just like clients, women face constant police controls when working on the street. While legal, the process is stressful. Officers check IDs, licenses, and health cards, which can feel like harassment. Nightclubs provide a stable, legal, and safe working environment without constant interruptions.

Poor Hygiene and Unsafe Settings: On the street, women do not have access to toilets, showers, or safe places to rest. Instead, they often work in cars or vans under unsanitary conditions. Nightclubs solve this problem by offering clean rooms, proper facilities, and professional standards that protect both the workers and the clients.

Why Nightclubs Are the Better Alternative

Professional and Safe Environment: Nightclubs in Vienna are licensed and regulated. This means that they meet hygiene standards, provide clean working spaces, and often have security staff to protect both clients and workers. The atmosphere is professional, and women are treated as employees rather than street objects.

Discretion and Privacy: In a nightclub, everything happens indoors and out of the public eye. Clients can enjoy their evening in comfort, while women can perform their work without being stared at by strangers. This level of privacy benefits both sides and removes the humiliation that comes with street work.

More Respect for Workers: Women in nightclubs are seen as professionals. They work in a business setting, often alongside colleagues, and are not exposed to the degrading conditions of the street. This respect allows them to feel more confident and dignified in their work.

Reliable Income: Nightclubs provide a more consistent customer base. Weather does not affect business, and clients are usually more serious and respectful than those on the street. Women can rely on steadier income, plan their schedules, and avoid the financial uncertainty of outdoor work.

Reduced Exploitation: Without pimps controlling their every move, women in nightclubs have more independence. They can negotiate terms, keep their earnings, and make decisions about their work. This freedom is essential for improving their quality of life and safety.

Don’t miss our essential guide about what you can expect in a premium nightclub in Vienna:

    Conclusion

Street prostitution in Vienna may still be legal in certain zones, but it is far from safe or respectable. For clients, it means poor hygiene, low quality, constant police checks, and the risk of scams or unsafe encounters. For women, it brings humiliation, exploitation by pimps, unpredictable income, and unhealthy working conditions.

Nightclubs, on the other hand, provide clean facilities, professional environments, and greater safety for both workers and clients. Women can work with dignity, enjoy more stable earnings, and escape the humiliations of the street. Clients benefit from privacy, comfort, and a higher level of service.

Banning street prostitution while supporting legal, regulated venues such as nightclubs would improve the lives of sex workers and protect clients. Vienna has already shown that legal and professional prostitution can work. Now it is time to take the next step and remove the last form of sex work that continues to harm both the women and the customers: street prostitution.

  • A Linz prostitution network’s trail leads to Vienna

A Linz prostitution network’s trail leads to Vienna

Authorities in Linz achieved again a great success in the fight against illegal prostitution. Police and city officials said four locations used for illegal sex work were shut down after a coordinated operation.

Illegal sex workers are working in private apartments

Similarly to Vienna, many sex workers in Linz are working illegally in private apartments. Careful inquiries by the Linz city administration made it possible to identify and close four such sites during a joint raid nearly two weeks ago.

As part of the action, one person was charged with pimping and another with involvement in cross-border prostitution. Two people were also taken into custody for being in Austria illegally.

Officers also seized a forged Chinese passport and three grams of cocaine. The woman with the fake passport was charged, as was the man in possession of the drugs.

According to investigators, evidence points to Vienna, where the suspected mastermind behind the prostitution network is believed to be located.

Illegal prostitution causes huge problems in Vienna as well

As we have reported many times, illegal prostitutes working in private apartments also cause major problems in Vienna. They operate in the shadow economy and avoid many legal obligations that licensed prostitutes must follow.

Illegal sex workers often skip the mandatory health checks and work for aggressive pimps who seize most of their income. In cases of disputes with customers, these pimps step in, and situations can quickly escalate. Blackmail is also common: pimps use customers’ contact details to threaten them and demand more money even after the sexual encounter.

At the same time, legal brothels also feel the negative impact of illegal sex workers. While licensed businesses must fully comply with the law and cover high operating costs, apartment prostitution draws away a significant portion of their clients.

Authorities in Vienna carry out frequent raids to eliminate illegal apartment prostitution. However, the large number of cases makes their work especially challenging.

  • Top 10 reasons why the Nordic Prostitution Model is bad for men

Top 10 reasons why the Nordic Prostitution Model is bad for men

The Nordic Prostitution Model, also known as the Swedish model, criminalizes the purchase of sex while decriminalizing its sale. This approach, implemented in several countries including Sweden, Norway, and Iceland, aims to reduce the demand for prostitution and protect the women involved in sex work.

A lot of people criticize the model because it is bad for the women and society. In this article, you can read the top 10 reasons why this model is bad for men:

    1. The Nordic Model is unfair to men as it demonizes or criminalizes them
    2. The nordic model stigmatizes the sex industry
    3. How personal freedoms are at risk under the Nordic model
    4. The hidden impact of reduced sexual services
    5. The dangers of losing safe and legal brothels
    6. Increasing cases of blackmail among customers
    7. Criminalized men won’t be able to ask legal help
    8. STDs can spread in the community as a bushfire
    9. Customers will have fear to ask medical help
    10. Sex education is the key, not the criminalisation

    1. The Nordic Model is unfair to men as it demonizes or criminalizes them

Under the Nordic model, men who purchase sex are criminalized and face legal consequences. This criminalization can lead to severe penalties, including fines and imprisonment. The legal problems can affect their families, careers, and social life as well.

It is a total nonsense that an everyday man who has a job, family, and private life is criminalized because of paying for sexual services. Such transactions are consensual ones, and there are no reasons to punish the parties, neither the women nor the men.

    2. The nordic model stigmatizes the sex industry

The Nordic model reinforces negative stereotypes about men who purchase sex, portraying them as exploitative and immoral. This one-dimensional view fails to consider the complexity of motivations and circumstances that lead men to seek sexual services. By painting all clients with the same brush, the model strengthens harmful stereotypes.

Men who are paying for sex are not beasts. They are just looking for sex, sometimes emotional support by being regulars at a sex worker or they can even spice up their marriages with their wife and a sex worker. The paid sex scene is as colorful and diverse as it can be, so there are no reasons to push the false and old stereotypes.

    3. How personal freedoms are at risk under the Nordic model

Critics say that because of the stricter authority control of the Nordic model, men’s personal freedom and rights can be hurt. We all know that when authorities get too much power and assets, sooner or later there will be serious consequences, even in the strongest democracies, because this is how power-enforcement organizations work.

There is no reason to spend a lot of money and resources on tracking everyday men and their sexual activities, while there are much more serious criminals in every country.

And if more staff is employed because of the Nordic model, then the whole society will pay its costs.

We already wrote an article about why the Nordic model is bad for the whole society. Click on the button to read all the reasons:

    4. The hidden impact of reduced sexual services

The criminalization of purchasing sex reduces the availability of sexual services. Men who are looking for these services for various reasons find it increasingly difficult to access them legally and safely. This scarcity can drive the market underground, where both clients and sex workers face greater risks. The reduced availability of sexual services also ignores the reality that consensual sex work can be a valid form of labor and personal expression.

The current situation in Vienna is very good, in terms of the offered services and diversity. You can find sex workers in all of the niches, even in the most special ones as well, they offer many services and you can find offers in all price segments. A bad law would totally ruin this situation and lead to less, more expensive, and more dangerous services.

Do you know the differencies between the different kind of sex jobs in Vienna? Read our comprehensive article to know more:

The Nordic model pushes the sex trade into less visible and less regulated environments. As a result, men who purchase sex are more likely to do so in unsafe and illegal settings.

This shift not only increases the danger for sex workers but also for the clients.

Men may find themselves in vulnerable situations. Currently, there are many brothel types and a lot of places in Vienna, where safety is the highest standard. Men in the city have the advantage of getting high-class sex in safe brothels, the only thing needed is money.

    blackmailing in WhatsApp

    6. Increasing cases of blackmail among customers

The illegal status of purchasing sex makes men vulnerable to blackmailing. Knowing that they are engaging in criminal activity, clients may be targeted by pimps who threaten to expose them unless they pay more money.

Previously we wrote about this when customers in Vienna provided their WhatsApp numbers to illegal sex workers, and later they got threats from the girls’ pimps.

The aggressive pimps tried to get extra amounts because of not previously discussed extra services and threatened the clients that they will pay with their blood, in case of not paying the extra money.

Read about this by clicking on the button below:

Men who are criminalized for purchasing sex have limited access to legal help. Fear of prosecution and the associated stigma discourage men from seeking legal advice or assistance.

This is again a problem where criminals would take advantage; there would be literally no limit to what they could demand from the clients. It would be a very sad and bad sex scene where there are no legal helps for clients, just criminals.

    8. STDs can spread in the community as a bushfire

By driving the sex trade underground, the Nordic model increases the risk of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). In illegal and unregulated settings, there is less emphasis on safe sex practices and fewer opportunities for health checks.

This problem is a double-edged sword, as both have risks for the sex workers and the customers.

The sex workers who work illegally have no protection against aggressive and shady clients. If they want something and the girl would not offer it, the girl would have no recourse against coercion or violence.

And the saddest thing is that customers tend to force the girls to provide unwanted services if they know that the girl is not protected by law – currently this is one of the strongest reasons why not to work illegally in the sex industry of Vienna or other countries.

The Nordic model would make this threat permanent.

The other edge of the sword, however, is that Vienna has very strict laws for sex workers and brothels; for example, the girls must have a police license and regular health checks.

In an illegal scene, these laws would not be in effect, so clients would have a higher risk of contracting an STD.

Here you can read the legal framework of sex work in Vienna and Austria:

    9. Customers will have fear to ask medical help

Criminalization also limits men’s access to health services. Fear of exposure and legal consequences can deter men from seeking medical help for sexual health issues or from accessing mental health support related to their involvement in the sex trade.

This fear would very likely strengthen the effects of the higher risks of STDs, causing damage to the whole society. Men would not just have a higher risk of being sick, but then they would keep this secret and spread the diseases everywhere.

    10. Sex education is the key, not the criminalisation

The Nordic model’s focus on criminalization rather than education creates a lack of comprehensive education on sexual health, consent, and safe practices for both clients and sex workers.

Sex, sexual ethics, and sexual health are subjects, like other subjects in school. They should be learned through reading, hearing educational materials, and getting extra info from other sources.

If a society focuses on criminalization instead of education, there can be more arrests, but in the long run, the missing education would cause more problems, health concerns, and damage to the economy.

    Conclusion

While the Nordic model aims to reduce exploitation and protect individuals in prostitution, it also has significant negative impacts on men who purchase sex. Criminalization, reinforcement of negative stereotypes, infringement on personal freedoms, and the creation of more dangerous environments are just a few of the negative effects.

In this article, we mentioned these reasons why this model is bad for men:

    1. Criminalization of everyday men
    2. Negative stereotypes would be worsened
    3. There would be infringements of personal freedoms and rights
    4. A lot of sexual services would no longer be offered
    5. Legal and safe brothels would not exist anymore
    6. Men could be blackmailed more easily
    7. Customers would not be able to seek medical help easily
    8. Sexually transmitted diseases would spread more easily
    9. Customers would have fear of seeking medical help
    10. Law enforcement is never a better choice than sexual education

  • Best brothels in Vienna

    Best brothels in Vienna

We are continuously reporting about the news of the Vienna night scene, including new girls, places, gossip, warnings, and other important updates. In this article, you can find the list of the best brothels in Vienna, based on our knowledge and experience in this field.

These are the best brothels in Vienna in 2026:

    1. Maxim Wien
    2. Goldentime
    3. Babylon
    4. Peepshow Burggasse
    5. Residenz

    Maxim Wien

    Pros:

    • Central location, high-class interior
    • Classic sex club with escort service
    • Very strong line-up of girls throughout the year
    • Fixed price schema with no upsells
    • Informative website with girls’ availability and details
    • Strong social media presence

    Cons:

    • No real cons at the moment

Maxim Wien is one of the most well-known brothels in the city, with a history spanning a few decades in the industry. Its predecessor was launched in 1985 and re-opened in the current location in 2004.

Maxim Wien is a so-called all-in-one sex club, offering striptease on small stages, rooms with selected girls, or escort services. Located in the absolute city center, one of the best and safest districts of Vienna, it has two parts: a community area downstairs with a resident DJ and small stages with a pole, where guests can order champagne and spirits at the bar and relax on couches with the girls, and an upstairs area with rooms.

Maxim Wien invests significantly in modernization and continuous development. By 2024, it had renovated all of its rooms, and a new room will open this year. The entrance has just received a facelift, including a big outdoor info screen.

The brothel usually has more than 20 girls, mostly from Eastern and Central European countries, but there are Austrian sex workers as well. Most can be booked for hotel escort, and the place can be reserved for bachelor, birthday, and divorce parties.

Maxim Wien is very active on social media, with accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, as well as a regular newsletter.

    Goldentime

    Pros:

    • Sauna club schema with spa facilities
    • A lot of girls every day
    • Cold buffet, towels, bathrobe included in entry fee

    Cons:

    • No fixed price schema and the girls’ prices are independent of the brothel
    • The extra services of the girls have become too expensive
    • The girls try to upsell clients if they are not regulars
    • The entry fee is 95 EUR for punters

The Vienna branch of the Goldentime chain is also a well-known brothel in the city, especially for tourists. The sauna club schema is a magnet for them, as this brothel type is unknown in most parts of the world.

The business schema at Goldentime is different from classic sex clubs, as both guests and sex workers must pay an entry fee. The weakness of this scheme is that it heavily relies on girls’ entry fees, who often pay this fee most days of the month, while regular guests visit the sauna club less frequently. In the past, we reported many cases from Goldentime about girls’ upsells, who take advantage of their key role in the business model and ask higher prices or overbill clients whenever they see a chance. Tourists, in particular, are at risk as they are unfamiliar with the prices in the Viennese sex scene.

Guests receive a towel and bathrobe upon entering the brothel and can use the cold buffet and spa facilities. The girls walk up and down in bikinis or half-naked, and customers have to negotiate their prices with the girls exclusively, as the management of the sauna club has nothing to do with the girls’ services or prices.

    Babylon Vienna

    Pros:

    • A lot of high-class girls
    • Very nice location
    • Food and some drinks are included in the entry fee

    Cons:

    • Expensive, 150 EUR entry fee
    • The first hour of sex costs 600 EUR
    • A lot of whales who can make the best girls busy for longer periods of time

The Vienna location of the Babylon chain is located in Palais Coburg and is also one of the best brothels in the city. However, the prices are much higher than in the previous brothels on this list, including a 150 EUR entry fee and 600 EUR for the first hour of sex.

Because of the higher prices, you can often find whales in this brothel, making it more difficult to get the girls’ attention, as most are interested in the whales.

As we reported, the owner of Palais Coburg wants to integrate the brothel’s space into the luxury hotel, so the future of the brothel is currently unclear. The value of the hotel without a brothel would increase drastically, so in the long run, we expect that Babylon Vienna will need to find a new place.

    Peepshow Wien

    Pros:

    • Advanced technical solutions in the brothel
    • Real peepshow experience
    • Detailed website with prices of sex and extras

    Cons:

    • The place was closed for half a year by the police and the brothel is still struggling with the girls’ quality

This brothel has two locations, one in Vienna and one in Graz. In Vienna, you can enjoy a real peepshow, where you can watch the girls on the stage from your own cabin for 1.5 EUR per minute.

If you want to have sex with the girl, you can go to a room with her. This brothel has always been a tech-savvy place with interesting technical solutions, and overall, it is also a good place for sex.

    Residenz Brunn

    Pros:

    • Good line-up of girls
    • Informative website with girls’ availability and prices of the services

    Cons:

    • Smaller line-up of girls
    • The girls might upsell the clients
    • Less attractive interior

This brothel chain also has two locations, one in Vienna and one a little bit outside of the capital town, in Brunn am Gebirge. The brothel in Brunn is the 5th on our list, as it also has a nice interior with 7 rooms and a very good line-up for sex.

However, we have also reported upsells from this place.

  • Brothel owner in Graz demonstrates against illegal prostitution in a strange way

Brothel owner in Graz demonstrates against illegal prostitution in a strange way

On April 1st, a brothel operator in Graz chose a peculiar method to raise awareness against illegal prostitution in apartments. He placed mannequins outside of his brothel, dressed as prostitutes. This was not the first awareness campaign from his side; last year, he sought “girl testers” via posters, which garnered significant media attention.

He protested against prostitutes who work in apartments

The owner, Wollinger, clarified why he chose provocatively dressed mannequins as a form of protest. He stated that the decision to hold the demonstration on April 1st was deliberate, aimed at once again shedding light on a pressing societal concern.

The primary aim of this initiative, according to Wollinger, is to raise awareness about the resurgence of illegal residential prostitution within the city. His campaign from last year garnered attention, and this year’s spectacle seeks to amplify the message. He emphasized that beyond the imperative of combating criminal activity, there is a substantial economic toll on legitimate businesses such as their own.

Austria has been recognized for its pioneering efforts in regulating the prostitution industry, yet Wollinger contends that more must be done to uphold this standard. Specifically, he advocates for granting the Graz police enhanced authority to effectively address such infractions. Moreover, he calls for the imposition of stricter penalties for violations related to residential prostitution.

The spokesperson of the State Police, Markus Lamb, replied to him. As he said, not counting the sporadic instances of illegal sex work in private apartments, the situation is not as dire as the brothel owner suggests, especially when comparing the current situation with the coronavirus lockdown.

    Our articles on illegal prostitution

Independent sex workers operating illegally in private apartments cause significant problems in Vienna as well. A man can never be sure if they have undergone the necessary health checks, and local police officers regularly conduct raids on these apartments, sometimes catching clients and illegal prostitutes red-handed.

These illegal sex workers often advertise their services on Booksusi, where a new type of scam has emerged, utilizing fake profile networks. These profiles dominate the lineup, causing issues for guests and legally advertising girls alike. Read the article here: These are the methods how girls cheat you on Booksusi

An interview with Krone revealed that the Vienna police conducted 82 checks in the red-light district of Vienna in 2023. During these checks, they inspected 217 apartments and discovered 614 violations of the prostitution act. The typical fines included €200 for unregistered prostitution, €400 for lack of a health book, and another €400 for illegal prostitution in apartments. However, while the overall €1000 fine may seem a seriour amount, it lacks real deterrent value for independent sex workers. • Brutal Knifing Attempt Against Two Prostitutes in Vienna

Brutal Knifing Attempt Against Two Prostitutes in Vienna

It all happened in June 1, 2020 when a 22-year-old Czech male decided to take a short tour and visit a total of three prostitutes in Vienna. He had arranged an appointment with each of the girls the day before, two of whom were transsexual.

Things escalated to the point where the 22-year-old stabbed a 34-year-old transsexual sex worker several times using a jackknife. The victim is still alive, although he had totally destroyed her life, according to her words in front of court.

There Could Have Been Three Victims Total

The guy arrived to his first potential victim at 9:00 a.m. and it all went as usual until after the sexual intercourse. That is when he asked the lady to close her eyes, as he is about to give her a gift. Fortunately, she had a mirror in front of her and as she opened her eyes for a second, she saw a knife in the guy’s hands. The sex worker swiftly reacted to the situation and pushed the man out of the room.

A bit later at 1 p.m., he arrived to the second woman. There, the 22-year-old Czech realized that the circumstances were not ideal for another attempt. There were other people waiting in the garden close to the apartment and they could have seen everything through the window if they wanted to. He decided to leave shortly after arriving and without demanding the agreed upon services.

Only two hours later at 3 p.m., he arrived at the home of the third, 34-year-old transsexual sex worker. The Czech guy told her that he wants a massage with a role change at some point. They agreed on 100 Euros and so the massage began.

As the role change happened, he pulled out his knife and cut the 34-year-old several times. The main intention of the 22-year-old was to cut her throat.

Her Roommate Comes to the Rescue

The sex worker tried to defend herself as best as she could while screaming. Meanwhile, several more cuts followed until her roommate entered the room after hearing the screams. She immediately intervened, grabbed the hand of the 34-year-old and pulled her away, standing between her and the Czech male.

The roommate was in front of the perpetrator who continued the stabbing. This resulted in her receiving a deep cut on her upper arm. This is when she hastily left the apartment with the seriously injured transsexual, successfully saving her from further harm.

The Perpetrator Tries to Defend Himself

The 22-year-old tried to argue against the obvious by stating that stabbing the prostitute was an act of self-defense. He claimed that the 34-year-old touched him in a painful spot in the genital area during the massage, which led to him pulling out the knife.

According to his words, the situation demanded him to use his knife, which he always carries with himself as a carpenter. He also added that he regrets what happened and that it will never happen again. Then the Czech went on by explaining that he met up with the women with good intentions and only wanted to have fun.

Psychiatrist Speaks Up About the Incident

According to court psychiatrist Peter Hofmann, the Czech 22-year-old is likely a serial offender. Considering how the events unfolded, he concluded that this is a serious case of narcissistic and sadistic sex offense of the chaotic kind. The Czech male had no intention to clear the traces either.

Other characteristics of the attack include a high degree of planning and an intense outbreak of aggression. This sums up as a typical procedure for sadistic sex killers in general. Hofmann concluded that the 22-year-old has a serious disorder which includes a complete lack of emotion towards the accusations. He also said that this is one of those cases where the perpetrator is ready to go to extremes when it comes to inflicting pain.

  • Illegal Prostitution on the Rise in Vienna

Illegal Prostitution on the Rise in Vienna

The police in Vienna has spent a whole week on finding apartments where prostitutes were offering paid sexual services. This action began on March 1st and ended on March 7th after discovering a total of 171 advertisements.

As a result, they have successfully shut down 30 apartments where sexual services were offered. This not only affected the prostitutes the prostitutes that worked there, but the owners and landlords as well. Everyone who was part of the illegal activity was fined, resulting in a total of 30,000 EUR in fines.

As reported by police spokesman Daniel Fürst, they have found 39 women who were illegally offering sexual services. The nationality of the women found in these apartments was mainly Romanian in the age range of 19 to 38.

Brothels in Vienna Offer a Solution to the Problem

After seeing the results of the police raid, it is obvious that keeping sauna clubs and brothels closed only pushes prostitutes into illegality. One potential solution would be to allow brothels to open and start offering Covid tests for prostitutes who want to work there.

Otherwise, the police raids and controls are going to continue. Many sex workers simply have no other option but to start working illegally, which also exposes them to possible violence. This is not to say that prostitution is completely against the law in Vienna.

Escort services are still legal as long as the ladies have a negative Covid test to show. The problem is that not every prostitute has the established clientele to work that way. As long as brothels are not in function, illegal prostitution is inevitably going to flourish.

Not to mention that women who welcome their clients in their apartments are not tested for Corona. Such a health risk can be eliminated by opening brothels that follow health measures accordingly. Many brothel owners have spoken up about their need to reopen their establishments.

One of them was Alexander Holzer, owner of the popular saunaclub Goldentime Vienna. Of course, they are willing to guarantee health and safety as well.

  • International overview of COVID-19 and prostitution

International overview of COVID-19 and prostitution

The COVID-19 epidemic has had a tremendous impact on not only the prostitution scene in Vienna, but the whole world. We’re seeing brothels being closed in every major prostitution hub around the world and lots of women who previously worked in this field of work are now left without a job.

Since it is now almost impossible to work in this field legally, many women turn to illegal prostitution in order to get some sort of income amidst the corona virus epidemic. In this article, we will be looking at the effects of the corona virus on the whole prostitution scene everywhere around the world, so keep reading if you’re interested in these news pieces!

    Heilderberg, Germany

Like in most other cities around the world, Heilderberg in Germany also had to close down most of its clubs when the Corona virus situation became more severe. One of the biggest brothels in the city Bienenstock Eros Center had to close its doors and let the women who worked there go for the time being.

According to the owner of the brothel, they can hold off like this for a while, but not forever. He also said that the whole industry will be different once the COVID-19 situation blows over. Not only will the clients be more careful, but the ladies will be a lot more cautious too.

When the brothel was closed, the women who worked there had no other choice but to travel back to their home countries. Since there were no buses or other form of transportation, the owner of the Bienenstock Eros Center hired taxis to take the ladies back to their home cities.

Some of the ladies still try to work in this field of work, but now they do it a bit differently. For example, one of the ladies who worked in Bienenstock Eros Center now undresses in front of a web camera for tips in one of the rooms in the brothel.

    Thailand

Thailand’s prostitution scene was also hit hard by the Corona virus epidemic and over 300,000 prostitutes lost their job from one day to another. However, the difference here is that prostitution is not legalized in Thailand and because of this, the women who worked as prostitutes do not get any help from the government.

The major cities where these women worked have lost all tourist customers and cannot continue to work without clients. Most of the prostitutes in Thailand come from poor villages where they now had to go back because of lack of clients in the city. Some prostitutes who lost their jobs now try to offer their services online, but this introduces numerous new problems that they have to deal with.

    Japan

Japan is under a state of emergency too because of the Corona virus epidemic and like everywhere else; prostitutes have been left without work here too. According to a prostitute who was interviewed, before the pandemic, she had around 3-4 customers each day, which was enough for her.

However, since the country went into lockdown, everybody is staying home and she is out of work. According to her, she doesn’t know how she will be able to pay rent and buy food because she’s out of work and nobody is hiring amidst the epidemic.

The Japanese government has issued stimulus packages to people, but not every prostitute is eligible for it. Besides, in order for them to receive this money, they would essentially have to out themselves as prostitutes, which could introduce new problems.

Many prostitutes in Japan who opted for the money say that although the help they get from the government is appreciated, it’s not enough. As a result of this, prostitutes have been left on the streets and some don’t even have money to buy food for themselves.

    United Kingdom

Prostitutes in the UK are also out of work and they are not eligible to receive any government help because their line of work is not recognized as a real job. Because of this, many sex workers in the UK have to continue working illegally in order to have enough money for food and rent.

However, because of the lockdown that is in place, most of the women have lost all of their regular clients. Now, sex workers in the UK demand that their line of work should be recognized as a real job and that they should get monetary help and the other benefits that everybody else gets.

Many prostitutes who have worked in this line of work before the Corona virus pandemic now try to continue working on online platforms. However, not everyone can do this for obvious reasons.

For example, some women live with their families, so doing online shows in front of the camera is out of question. In addition, the women feel in danger even on online platforms because of the hate mail that they constantly receive. According to one sex worker, this is mostly because everybody is at home and they have a lot more time on their hand for stuff like this.

    Austria

As reported previously, all brothels and similar establishments had to be closed in Vienna. The latest news about when these places can be opened again is July 1. However, we cannot be sure that the situation will be less severe then, so this isn’t guaranteed either.

abandoned street in Vienna because of corona virus
we don’t know when life will be back to normal in Vienna

We think that escort agencies will be the first ones to start doing business again, but we cannot say when. Unfortunately, much like everywhere else, Austria’s prostitution scene has been halted by the COVID-19 virus too.

If you wish to read more about these news, check out the article that we have recently published on our blog!

    Conclusion

As you can see, the prostitution scene was hit all over the world and everyone is trying to survive this as best they can. Some people have taken to illegal prostitution, while others try their luck with on online platforms. Many women have lost their main source of income and had to travel back to their country of origin for the time being. Some governments are trying to help these women in need of help, while others simply ignore them and leave them in a very bad situation.

Unfortunately, at this time we cannot say when everything is getting back to normal and we just have to wait and see. Until then, you can read some of the previously published posts on our blog and learn more about the situation that way. Be sure to keep checking our website for more information, as we will post any news as soon as we find them.

  • Reasons why the Corona Crisis hits Prostitution even harder than other industries

Reasons why the Corona Crisis hits Prostitution even harder than other industries

As most of you already know the current COVID-19 crisis has impacted almost every type of business and industry in the whole world. However, the prostitution scene is affected by the Corona virus even more than others. Prostitution all around the world has stopped and many women have been left without a job. What are the exact reasons as to why the Corona virus has hit the prostitution scene even harder than other industries?

    Prostitution is a social industry

One of the main and most obvious reasons why the prostitution scene was hit harder than any other industry is because this is mainly a social business. Regardless of what type of prostitution we are talking about, clients have to meet with the girls one way or another. This is even truer when we consider sex bars and saunaclubs where many clients and women are present at the same time. Continuing to go to places like this could exponentially increase the number of infected individuals, which could prolong the epidemic for an even longer period of time.

As a result of this, all brothels and similar establishments had to be closed, essentially putting the whole prostitution scene in hibernation.

Many people don’t have money for prostitutes

Another reason why the prostitution scene was hit hard by the Corona virus is the fact that many people have lost their jobs. Since their income has been lowered, and there are more essential things that also require money, most people do not have the extra cash to spend on prostitutes. Naturally, there are people who would gladly go to a prostitute even now if they were allowed to do so, but the sad truth is that a large number of clients simply cannot afford to spend money on the prostitution scene right now.

We are sure that this will get back to its normal routine, but as it currently stands, we can understand that people would rather spend their money on the most essential things.

    Borders between countries are closed

Although not all borders are closed, this still has a huge impact on tourism in Vienna. Many clients who pay for sexual services in the city travel in from abroad, which means that there’s a huge clientele loss for brothels and other similar establishments.

Of course, there are many Viennese customers too who pay for sexual services, but most clients have been businessmen from abroad. Until the borders are fully opened up and people are allowed to freely travel wherever they want, sex businesses in Vienna will keep feeling the effects of the COVID-19 virus.

Women who work in the prostitution business have travelled back to their home countries

As you might already know, most prostitutes who worked in Vienna haven’t been Austrian women. The most common nationalities in Vienna were ladies from Romania, Hungary and similar European countries. Since most of them travelled home when the epidemic started, in order not to get stranded in Austria, there are far fewer ladies in the city now. As a result of this, most brothels couldn’t even open right now because of lack of girls who could work for them.

Of course, as soon as these types of establishments are allowed to open again, we are sure that the ladies will start coming back to the city too.

Clients fear they will be infected with the Corona virus

Last, but not least importantly, one of the most obvious reasons why the prostitution scene has been hit hard by the virus is the fact that clients are simply afraid that they will get the COVID-19 virus from a prostitute. Since people can show no signs of being ill while already being infected with the virus, many clients simply do not want to take the chance.

Of course, the ladies could be tested regularly, but unfortunately even hospitals are lacking in terms of testing equipment and the supplies couldn’t and shouldn’t be used to test prostitutes.

    Conclusion

The Corona virus has definitely hit the prostitution scene hard; even harder than other industries. The infectious nature of the virus has made it very hard for prostitutes to work in the city, and most of them are simply waiting for the epidemic to end before they could get back to work. Since all brothels are closed for safety, clients cannot simply visit one of these places either. The lack of monetary means is also a huge benefactor of COVID-19’s impact on the prostitution scene.

Until the epidemic is over, we will have to patiently wait. In reality, the measures taken by the Viennese government are very helpful in stopping the spread of the virus. Everybody should stay home and practice social distancing until we can put this whole crisis behind us.
