• A Linz prostitution network’s trail leads to Vienna

A Linz prostitution network’s trail leads to Vienna

Authorities in Linz achieved again a great success in the fight against illegal prostitution. Police and city officials said four locations used for illegal sex work were shut down after a coordinated operation.

Illegal sex workers are working in private apartments

Similarly to Vienna, many sex workers in Linz are working illegally in private apartments. Careful inquiries by the Linz city administration made it possible to identify and close four such sites during a joint raid nearly two weeks ago.

As part of the action, one person was charged with pimping and another with involvement in cross-border prostitution. Two people were also taken into custody for being in Austria illegally.

Officers also seized a forged Chinese passport and three grams of cocaine. The woman with the fake passport was charged, as was the man in possession of the drugs.

According to investigators, evidence points to Vienna, where the suspected mastermind behind the prostitution network is believed to be located.

Illegal prostitution causes huge problems in Vienna as well

As we have reported many times, illegal prostitutes working in private apartments also cause major problems in Vienna. They operate in the shadow economy and avoid many legal obligations that licensed prostitutes must follow.

Illegal sex workers often skip the mandatory health checks and work for aggressive pimps who seize most of their income. In cases of disputes with customers, these pimps step in, and situations can quickly escalate. Blackmail is also common: pimps use customers’ contact details to threaten them and demand more money even after the sexual encounter.

At the same time, legal brothels also feel the negative impact of illegal sex workers. While licensed businesses must fully comply with the law and cover high operating costs, apartment prostitution draws away a significant portion of their clients.

Authorities in Vienna carry out frequent raids to eliminate illegal apartment prostitution. However, the large number of cases makes their work especially challenging.

  • Hungarian couple arrested for running illegal brothel in Wels

Hungarian couple arrested for running illegal brothel in Wels

Authorities have arrested a Hungarian couple accused of running an illegal brothel near the Wels train station and forced Hungarian women into prostitution. The police allege that the couple profited significantly from the exploitation of their victims.

The authorities discovered 2 victims in the brothel

After a few months of investigation, officers uncovered that the couple had been forcing two Hungarian women into prostitution from September last year until February 11. The women, who arrived from poor families from Hungary, were pressured into working at the brothel while the couple retained at least half of their earnings.

The operation led to the arrest of a 39-year-old Hungarian man in Wels under a European arrest warrant issued by Hungary. At the time of his arrest, he was carrying more than €7,000 in cash, which authorities suspect was obtained from the illegal business.

Upon raiding the brothel, officers discovered two women who reported being forced into working there. A 37-year-old Hungarian woman present at the scene was also taken into custody. According to the Wels Public Prosecutor’s Office, she had made tens of thousands of euros through the exploitation of the victims.

The arrested man has been transferred to the Wels correctional facility while investigations continue. Authorities are now working to determine the full extent of the operation and identify any additional individuals involved in the trafficking scheme.

Illegal prostitution is becoming a big problem in Lucerne and Vienna. More sex workers are moving from legal brothels to private apartments. This change, sped up by the COVID-19 pandemic, makes it harder for the government to keep the industry safe. Vienna has the same issue, with illegal apartment prostitution hurting legal businesses and avoiding taxes. Police have a hard time keeping up, and better solutions are needed. Historic Freyenthurn Castle with Babylon brothel officially listed for sale

In April 2024, it was rumored that Freyenthurn Castle, perched above Klagenfurt, would be put up for sale. Now, it is officially confirmed that the castle is for sale. The estate offers 1,500 square meters of living space and spans 50 hectares. The asking price is estimated between 20 and 30 million euros, making it an attractive opportunity for prospective buyers.

Garden, forest, and natural swimming ponds included

Real estate agent Hansjörg Lenz from Engel & Völkers, known for his expertise in historical properties, is managing the sale. The castle, owned by Freyenthurn Immobilien AG in Vienna, is situated within a nature reserve and underwent a complete renovation in 2004.

The estate includes a 15,000-square-meter garden, a forest covering 39,000 square meters, and three natural swimming ponds spanning 7,270 square meters.

The Babylon Klagenfurt brothel has been operating at the castle since 2003, despite initial outrage from local citizens. Its proximity to the Italian border made it ideal to target Italian visitors, as prostitution laws in Italy are stricter.

The property currently operates as the Babylon brothel, an exclusive establishment primarily catering to guests from Italy.

    Freyenthurn Castle Klagenfurt

The owner of Babylon Klagenfurt is currently renting the castle, and it remains unclear whether the brothel will reopen in another location within Klagenfurt or in the nearby area if the sale goes through. If sold, the brothel will vacate, leaving behind 29 suites, 16 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, and 24 toilets available for future use and development.

Freyenthurn Castle presents several opportunities for redevelopment. It could be transformed into a health hotel, as it already has a license for a health spa.

Alternatively, the castle could be converted into a private residence or a romantic hotel. The property also features an existing restaurant on the ground floor, and its location near the Kreuzbergl nature area further enhances its appeal for various potential uses.

What’s going on with the Babylon brand?

According to a news report in Kleine Zeitung, Freyenthurn Castle is about to be sold in Klagenfurt. The location might be familiar to Sex Vienna readers, as currently one of the Babylon brand’s brothels is operating there.

Meanwhile, there are rumors about the brand’s other location in Vienna as well. Read our article for details.

Babylon Klagenfurt was opened in 2003

The Babylon Klagenfurt was opened in 2003, and the brothel has been operating there since then. Local citizens were outraged when the brothel arrived in their city, but the city’s relatively close proximity to the Italian border made it ideal to target Italian punters. In Italy, prostitution laws are stricter, so many Austrian brothels target the country’s citizens. Another notable brothel with a similar setup is Wellcum, located in Hohenthurn, only a few kilometers away from Italy.

As it turned out from the Kleine Zeitung’s article, the owner of Babylon Klagenfurt is renting the castle, and it is now about to be sold. According to the newspaper, it could become a health resort. The selling price is confidential, but it might be a double-digit amount in USD dollars.

There is no other information about the Klagenfurt brothel of the Babylon chain, so at the moment, it is not clear whether it will be reopened in another building in the city or in the nearby area if the selling process is successful.

Babylon Vienna might also be closed at the current location

However, we did not read news about the Vienna location of Babylon in the cited Kleine Zeitung article, but we have heard rumors about this brothel as well. It seems the owner of Palais Coburg, where Babylon Vienna is located, wants to integrate the brothel’s space into the luxury hotel. The value of the building would increase massively if the brothel moves out, and the hotel can use the space freely.

There is no other information about what will happen in the Viennese Babylon brothel, and currently, we also don’t know exactly when they should leave the building of Palais Coburg.

  • Brothel owner in Graz demonstrates against illegal prostitution in a strange way

Brothel owner in Graz demonstrates against illegal prostitution in a strange way

On April 1st, a brothel operator in Graz chose a peculiar method to raise awareness against illegal prostitution in apartments. He placed mannequins outside of his brothel, dressed as prostitutes. This was not the first awareness campaign from his side; last year, he sought “girl testers” via posters, which garnered significant media attention.

He protested against prostitutes who work in apartments

The owner, Wollinger, clarified why he chose provocatively dressed mannequins as a form of protest. He stated that the decision to hold the demonstration on April 1st was deliberate, aimed at once again shedding light on a pressing societal concern.

The primary aim of this initiative, according to Wollinger, is to raise awareness about the resurgence of illegal residential prostitution within the city. His campaign from last year garnered attention, and this year’s spectacle seeks to amplify the message. He emphasized that beyond the imperative of combating criminal activity, there is a substantial economic toll on legitimate businesses such as their own.

Austria has been recognized for its pioneering efforts in regulating the prostitution industry, yet Wollinger contends that more must be done to uphold this standard. Specifically, he advocates for granting the Graz police enhanced authority to effectively address such infractions. Moreover, he calls for the imposition of stricter penalties for violations related to residential prostitution.

The spokesperson of the State Police, Markus Lamb, replied to him. As he said, not counting the sporadic instances of illegal sex work in private apartments, the situation is not as dire as the brothel owner suggests, especially when comparing the current situation with the coronavirus lockdown.

Independent sex workers operating illegally in private apartments cause significant problems in Vienna as well. A man can never be sure if they have undergone the necessary health checks, and local police officers regularly conduct raids on these apartments, sometimes catching clients and illegal prostitutes red-handed.

These illegal sex workers often advertise their services on Booksusi, where a new type of scam has emerged, utilizing fake profile networks. These profiles dominate the lineup, causing issues for guests and legally advertising girls alike. Read the article here: These are the methods how girls cheat you on Booksusi

An interview with Krone revealed that the Vienna police conducted 82 checks in the red-light district of Vienna in 2023. During these checks, they inspected 217 apartments and discovered 614 violations of the prostitution act. The typical fines included €200 for unregistered prostitution, €400 for lack of a health book, and another €400 for illegal prostitution in apartments. However, while the overall €1000 fine may seem a seriour amount, it lacks real deterrent value for independent sex workers. Conflict Arising from Purchased Services Results in Detainment of Hungarian Woman in Villach

An intense disagreement over the nature of the acquired services between a customer and an unlawful sex worker in Villach led to the apprehension of a 27-year-old Hungarian woman.

A regular argument ended with an unusual ending

An intense disagreement on February 2nd over the nature of the acquired services between a client and an illegal sex worker in Villach led to the apprehension of a 27-year-old Hungarian woman.

On the morning of February 2nd, local authorities responded to a dispute in a multi-unit apartment in Villach. Upon arrival, it emerged that a 27-year-old Hungarian woman was embroiled in a disagreement with a fellow 27-year-old Villach resident concerning the sexual services she purportedly provided.

Both had arranged an erotic massage through an online platform. The woman insisted that they had agreed on a massage encompassing the back and genital area, with no mention of sexual intercourse or oral activities. However, the man, who had prepaid for the services, had a differing interpretation.

Following this, law enforcement informed the woman about the illegality of her actions, deeming them an administrative offense. Further investigation revealed that the 27-year-old was already wanted for a prior offense, leading to her transfer to the Neufellach police station.

Due to the woman’s inability to provide a fixed address, authorities instructed her to remit a 100-euro security deposit. Abruptly, the woman began shouting and exhibited aggression. Since attempts to calm her proved futile, she was taken into custody.

The Hungarian woman was subsequently transported to the Villach police detention center and now faces charges.

Acting on a public tip, the investigation led to the discovery of an illegal prostitution business operating within a private residence. During the operation, three Thai women, aged 30 to 53, were found in the apartment. Two admitted to engaging in prostitution, while the third claimed to work as a masseuse. • Police Called to Sauna Club in Villach Due to Unpaid Bill

Police Called to Sauna Club in Villach Due to Unpaid Bill

In an unusual turn of events, local police officers were recently called to a sauna club in Villach in response to a case of “dine and dash.” A 53-year-old patron allegedly enjoyed the services of a Romanian sex worker for an hour in one of the club’s rooms but found himself unable to pay the agreed-upon fee of 250 euros afterward.

It appears that the customer was well aware of his financial constraints before indulging in the services. Furthermore, he expressed confusion regarding the charges, questioning the purpose of the 250 euros. Faced with an unpaid bill and a resistant customer, the club staff decided to involve the authorities.

The police arrived at the scene and subsequently reported the individual for “dine and dash” behavior. Notably, the 53-year-old did manage to cover the cost of the beverages he had consumed during his visit to the establishment.

This unusual incident serves as a reminder of the unexpected situations that law enforcement officers can find themselves dealing with in the line of duty, even in the most unconventional of locations.

Only problems arise from not paying for sexual services upfront

This is a significant issue in sauna clubs, where customers often settle their bills after engaging in sexual intercourse. Such a practice can lead to various problems. It is always stressful for sex workers when disputes arise over payments, and, in some cases, as mentioned above, customers may find themselves unable to pay.

However, traditional sex clubs offer a better solution: customers are required to pay upfront after negotiating the services and extra costs. This arrangement is safer for the workers, and it creates a less stressful environment, leading to better services.

It is also worth noting that sometimes the sex worker may unintentionally overcharge the client. However, it’s essential to confirm the location. In establishments like FKK Andiamo Sauna Club, sex workers are generally known for their honesty and integrity. On the other hand, punters may be more likely to encounter such situations in some of Vienna’s most renowned sauna clubs, such as Goldentime.

As we previously reported, prices at Goldentime have soared, with some cases seeing prices nearly double due to the girls increasing their rates and the introduction of unique pricing for extras.

There were terrifying scenes for the bypassers that had to watch as a man stopped his car in front of the Villach district administration building on Monday and proceeded to grab the body of a young woman from the back seat and drop it on the pavement just in front of the official building.

It is later discovered that the body belonged to a 29-year-old Romanian sex-worker.

It is unclear why the man chose to bring the woman to that particular location, instead of going to the hospital. The woman had obviously sustained serious beatings, but at that moment it was unknown if the woman was still alive.

After dropping her body to the ground, the man started shouting “´´My life is over`” over and over again till the Ambulance and Police arrived.

The victim worked as sex worker

The Paramedics carried out resuscitation measures on the woman, but they proved to be unsuccessful, the woman being already deceased and sustaining massive violente injuries.

The 28-year-old man has been arrested under the suspicion of murder and he is being questioned.

At the moment, all is known about the two is the fact that the victim is a 29-year-old Romanian woman who used to work as a sex worker in a red light club in the industrial area of Villach.

The suspect’s relationship with the victim has also been disclosed, he was her boyfriend and pimp, with whom she lived in a shared apartment in the Villach-Land district.

The murder weapon, a self-carved wooden stick in the shape of a baseball bat, was found and seized near the brothel and sauna club, which was mainly frequented by Italian customers. The suspect’s car has also been confiscated. It is not clear at the moment if the suspect is indeed the murderer or if he acted as an accomplice.

Meantime in Germany: Dissatisfied client of sex work services, becomes violent

After he was apparently unpleased with the performance of a sex worker in an Aalen brothel, a 34-year-old man, asked for his money back on Sunday morning. After the worker denied his request and expelled the bad suitor from the room, he took out his frustration on a colleague of the lady who he happened to meet in the hallway.

The police stated that the man threated the sex worker and knocked her against the wall, leaving her with a minor injury to her shoulder.

He attempted to hit the woman in the face by using his fist, but happily another customer stopped him and succeeded in pushing the man out of the establishment.

After the 34-year-old man kept kicking the door and trying to gain access back to the building, the police were notified. Since they saw that the man wasn’t planning to leave the location, they have decided that he has to be taken in custody.

Legal battle over ownership of Andiamo in Villach

Andiamo in Villach was considered to be a very popular and successful adult entertainment venue in Austria a few years ago. However, the business’ success started to falter around 2015 and it never really recovered to its former glory.

Now, after the death of one of the co-owners of the club, there is a legal battle over who gets to purchase the majority of the club’s shares. Naturally, there are many different parties interested in owning this sex club, and a lot of money being offered for the trade.

Who currently owns Andiamo in Villach?

According to Michael K., one of the partners of the company that holds all of the shares to Andiamo, the club’s success has faltered because of serious management errors.

By this, he is referring to Arnold H., the co-owner who actually held the majority of the shares to Andiamo before his passing last year.

Michael K. stated that he blames his partner for the downfall of the Andiamo club because of the changes that Arnold H. made in the club’s management.

After Arnold H.’s death last year, his heirs inherited the majority of the shares to the club, which means that the future of the establishment is in question.

Since Michael K. doesn’t own the majority of the shares to Andiamo, he cannot make any decisions about the club on his own.

    Legal battle over Andiamo’s future

Michael K. stated that his late-partner’s heirs are ignoring Austrian law, as they did not allow the appraiser who was appointed by the court into the sex club, which is necessary to determine the company’s value.

Additionally, the heirs to the majority of the shares do not wish to make a deal with Michael K. and to continue operating the club.

Instead, according to rumors, they are already trying to make a deal in selling the shares to an interested third party.

This is a problem for Michael K., as he would like to resume business in Andiamo and restore the club to its former glory.

It is also rumored that among the interested parties who wish to purchase the Andiamo shares is the well-known club owner from Salzburg, Hannes R. Regardless of what the end deal might be we can be certain that there is going to be a lot of money involved.

According to rumors, the deal should be somewhere around 4 million Euros.

  • Increase in number of illegal apartments in Vienna and Graz

Increase in number of illegal apartments in Vienna and Graz

The Corona Virus has been a huge nuisance for every aspect of our lives; and the prostitution scene is no exception. Since November, 2020, prostitution as we know it in Austria and other German speaking countries has seized to exist. Although escort services have been recently allowed again, brothels, Laufhauses, FKKs and other similar adult entertainment businesses are still not allowed to open. As a result of this, many women try their luck making money through illegal means. In addition to seeing a large number of illegal apartments in Vienna, this has now spread to Graz as well. For further information read this article thoroughly!

Women operate illegally through private apartments

According to reports, there are around 200 women offering their services illegally just in Graz alone. The women and their backers look for apartments that they turn into illegal brothels for a couple of weeks, before moving to another apartment. Since there is not much tourism going on in Graz right now, the apartments for rent are mostly vacant, so there are many options to choose from for the girls and their pimps.

Since there is a big demand for prostitution services, and no legal method to get it, illegal prostitution is booming right now. However, police forces are trying everything in their power to put a stop to this. We’ve already seen many police raids being done on similar illegal apartments in Vienna and the surrounding cities. To learn more about one of these police raids in Vienna, check out the following article from the Sex in Vienna blog now!

Increased number of police raids in Vienna because of the brothel lockdown

The clients are checked before they get the address

Although the women are not protected when they work illegally, they figured out a way to check their potential customers before the session. The clients are required to do a quick video chat before they get the address of the apartment. This isn’t much of a protective measure, but it is still better than nothing for the women who choose to work illegally. Unfortunately, since they need to keep their occupation a secret, they do not get any protection from the government or someone like a legal brothel owner.

Illegally operating women do not have their green health cards

Since the women who work from such apartments do this completely illegally, they are not required to be checked by a doctor for STDs on a regular basis. This means that any of the illegally operating women could be spreading sexually transmittable diseases to their clients. Additionally, nobody is checking on the women and their clients if they follow the current COVID-19 hygiene laws, which further increases the chance of the virus spreading. On top of this, the women are also not paying any tax for the services that they are offering, which makes the government even more eager to stop them.

The women who are caught are getting fined

In case the police do find one of these apartments, the women are fined anywhere between 400 and 1000 euros. The clients are not fined unless they have ignored the COVID-19 laws that are currently in effect. Additionally, the landlords who rent out the apartments to the ladies for illegal prostitution are also getting fined by the police.

If you wish to read more about the situation in Graz, go ahead and check out the German article we used as the source for this post on the Kronen Zeitung website.

As you can see illegal prostitution is on the rise not only in Vienna, but also in other cities in Austria. Unfortunately, since the women are not allowed to operate through legal means, they need to do this if they want to keep making money. The police are working hard to end these types of operations, but with so many new illegal apartments appearing constantly they are having a hard time.

Hopefully brothels and other similar adult entertainment business will be allowed to open again soon. This would mean that the women do not have to work secretly from private apartments and that they could get the protection and benefits that come with working in a real and legal brothel.

Four Romanian pimps arrested last week

According to Sex Vienna sources, the four men were found as a result of multiple raids on illegal prostitution by the Tyrolean police. The police have said that the two gangs operated similarly, using the same illegal tactics. The gangs advertised the women through online platforms and they operated from illegal apartments.

The police records show that the Romanian men were between the ages of 31 and 34. At the time of writing, two of the suspects have been arrested, while the other two are under custody but are still being questioned. In these raids on four different apartments, the police have seized more than 1,000 euros in cash, multiple cell phones and two cars from the suspects. The police have announced that according to their current investigations there is no correlation between the two gangs. Naturally, none of the men confessed to their crimes during their interrogation.

The women had their money taken by the pimps

According to reports, the women who were working for the pimp gangs were between the ages of 19 and 30. If you are unaware, there is currently a curfew in Austria that was introduced because of the increase in the number of COVID-19 infections in the country. As a result of this, all types of brothels and other adult entertainment venues are required to be closed until further notice. There has been an increase in illegal prostitution since the curfew was introduced, as the ladies are no longer allowed to work legally. Sexworkers who still work while the curfew is active mostly operate from illegal apartments. Because of this, the Austrian police have been conducting numerous raids on these types of apartments. Lots of sexworkers have been fined or arrested because of illegal prostitution in the last months. Starting from December 10, escorts are once again allowed to operate legally in Vienna. All brothels are still required to be closed until December 23, or even further. Escort dates can be arranged in the clients’ apartments, but protective measures are required. Street prostitution is also allowed, as long as customers abide the current curfew rules. Conclusion

Unfortunately, as a result of the current curfew and brothel lockdown that’s in effect in Vienna, more and more women turn to illegal prostitution out of their own will or because they are forced to do so. Most of the women who work out of illegal apartments need to turn to these kinds of measures as they are in a very bad financial situation. There are also women like the Romanian ladies that were rescued by the police who are forced by their pimps. The girls who work out of their own will can make some money by working illegally. However, in case the women are caught red-handed, they need to pay huge fines which just worsen their situation. Thankfully there is a good side to the story too, as we are receiving more and more reports of police rescuing girls who are forced into prostitution by their pimps.

Now a ray of hope for these types of illegally working sexworkers is on the horizon with escort and street prostitution once again being allowed. We will see in December how things work out and what kind of measures will be taken further down the road.
