• Price change in Vienna after the COVID pandemic

Price change in Vienna after the COVID pandemic

The pandemic that has been happening for the last two years caused a lot of problems worldwide and many businesses had to adjust prices and policies because of this. The sex industry is no exception and we can see various things that have been caused directly or indirectly by the COVID pandemic.

In the following post, you can read how the outbreak changed the prices in Viennese brothels and what we can expect in the future if things continue developing this way. Read on to find out more!

Illegal prostitution on the rise during the pandemic

Since prostitution was banned for the majority of the pandemic, many women who wanted to work in the business had to do it illegally.

There have been many reports of illegal apartment prostitution in Austria and a lot of women risked getting fined by working during the lockdown.

Of course, since selling sexual services was banned, those who did offer illegal sex asked for way higher prices, as there was a big risk factor. Clients paid the women the asked price as there were no alternatives.

Women who worked illegally usually advertised on online platforms such as Booksusi. Since they were the ones deciding on the prices, some women had and still have outrages asking prices for extra sexual services.

These prices for sexual services are usually publicly shown to any visitor, and since women copied each other’s business model, soon most of the women who worked started asking for the higher prices.

Unfortunately, the same things can now be seen in legally operated brothels and saunaclubs as well. The ladies are asking for way higher prices for additional or extra services. Read on to learn exactly where this can be experienced so far!

Prices for extra services in Residenz

Rezidenz in Brunn am Gebirge, also previously known as Pornbabes is a Laufhaus located in Vienna. We have recently noticed that some of the ladies who work here started asking for the same outrages prices for extra services that we saw in illegal prostitution during the pandemic.

The prices that customers who visit Residenz can expect are the following: 30 minutes of sex is 140€ while 60 minutes with a girl is 200€. So far this doesn’t seem so outrages, but things quickly turn sour once we start talking about the extras that are being offered.

We will add a full list of extra services with prices, but please keep in mind that all of these add up in addition to the standard price for sex.

This means that in case a client wants to try out a few things in that hour, he can expect to pay a hefty price for it. Here are the prices for extras in Residenz:

    • Prostate massage = +70€
    • 69 = +20€
    • French kissing = +20€
    • Golden shower = +100€
    • Swallow = +100€
    • Deepthroat = +50€
    • Photo / Film = +100€
    • Striptease = +50€
    • Roleplay = +50€
    • Lesbian = +50€
    • Dildo play = +20€
    • Anal = +100€
    • Foot play = +50€
    • Breast play = +30€
    • Cum in mouth = +50€
    • Cum on face = +50€
    • Cum on body =+30€
    • Blowjob without a condom = +30€
    • Kissing = +20€

As previously mentioned, these prices add up to the original standard price for sex with condom.

For example, if a customer wants an hour with a girl, and would like kissing, striptease, anal, deepthroat and maybe finish in her mouth, with her swallowing, he would need to pay 600€ and pray for a good experience.

This price is high even for some of the most luxurious places in Vienna, and Residenz is not necessarily among them.

Women in Goldentime Vienna start asking for higher prices

Another thing that we have recently noticed is happening in the Goldentime FKK in Vienna.

Goldentime is known for allowing the ladies who work there to dictate the price and there have been reports of this happening previously. Now, after the pandemic the ladies in Goldentime are pushing 300€ for an hour of “good service”.

This means that if a client refuses to pay this price, most of the time he can expect a lackluster experience. The problem with this is that clients who visit an FKK already have to pay an entrance fee in addition to the price for the lady.

Additionally, an FKK used to mean multiple quick sessions with different girls in one day. With the current prices, many clients stay for only one session and leave afterwards.

The ladies in FKKs used to ask for a lower price as they constantly had clients throughout the day.

Now they are starting to charge the price that is offered in sexclubs and other similar establishments. This can immensely impact Goldentime itself, as well as other places in the Vienna sex scene if they choose to follow.

Currently, many clients are outraged by the current prices that are being asked. We will have to wait and see what will come of it. As soon as we acquire new information, we will make sure to post it here and update our readers.

  • The pandemic has seen a rapid increase in the number of people involved in illegal prostitution

The pandemic has seen a rapid increase in the number of people involved in illegal prostitution

In Germany, prostitution is lawful and regulated, but it was outlawed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Germany’s prostitution ban remained in force at the start of the summer, when this country and the rest of Europe began to reopen their economies.

This has enraged sex workers and brothel owners and managers, who claim that the prohibition has resulted in not just a sudden loss of money, but also a risk to the employees’ lives. This situation caused illegal prostitution to bloom, with the numbers drastically increasing.

Anne Leiding, the spokesperson testifies for this fact. The statistics will come out by the end of the year, showing reports of illegal prostitution increase in Bavaria.

She states that the state’s priority is women’s safety, which has been in jeopardy for the above-stated reasons. She ensures the public that the state is aware of the problem, and is working on it. Nightclubs have been open since the beginning of March, and she expects brothels to have the same destiny. Time will tell if that happens any time soon.

  • Swabia faces illegal prostitution problems because of the coronavirus pandemic

Swabia faces illegal prostitution problems because of the coronavirus pandemic

Due to the corona pandemic, there is more illegal prostitution in Bayer, especially in Munich.

The corona pandemic forced the closure of brothels for a long time. This aided in the growth of illegal prostitution. In Munich, the public prosecutor’s offices have opened much more investigations this year than in the entire year of 2020.

Women must send money home and continue to work.

And in places where sex for money is always prohibited, illicit prostitution is on the rise, according to the Ministry of Justice, Anne Leiding: “Because women must still work to support themselves. Many people come from Eastern Europe and rely on it to transfer money back home.”

This means that hotel rooms are nearly entirely booked in restricted zones of cities. All major cities, including Munich, Augsburg, and Nuremberg, have designated areas where prostitution is expressly prohibited.

In 2021, the number of investigations has increased dramatically

The women are on the verge of breaking the law. The public prosecutor’s offices have seen a considerable surge in investigations: in 2020, the Kempten public prosecutor’s office had just four cases; this year, there are already more than 20.

In the public prosecutor’s office in Memmingen, the distinction is even clearer: There were 13 procedures in 2020, but there are already 44 this year. Even while Augsburg does not provide particular data, the pattern is similar.

The closing of brothels may have contributed to the rise

“The numbers had risen marginally even before that. However, the increasing increase is most likely due to Corona, especially since the brothels were closed “The authority’s spokeswoman, Anne Leiding, states The prosecution figures, which will not be released until the end of the year, will reveal how it looks across Bavaria, according to the Ministry of Justice.

“It’s the wrong way to criminalize women.”

By no means all foreign prostitutes can afford to renounce the money they earn in Bavaria.

“If they can no longer work in the brothel, they retreat deeper into the dark field and are therefore less accessible for assistance organizations,” says Daniela Lutz of Solwodi Augsburg, an international Catholic women’s aid organization.

Lutz had thought that the second round of brothel closures would provide at least some alternatives for prostitutes: “In theory, I believe it is appropriate to limit the market for purchasing sex. But the last thing we want is for women to be prosecuted for.”

  • Austria under lockdown from November 22

Austria under lockdown from November 22

Austria has officially gone under lockdown starting from the 22nd of November, lasting until at least December 13th.

All adult entertainment venues are being closed, but the women do not stop working.

They need the money so they continue working through illegal means, which is dangerous for the clients and the women alike. Read on to find out more about the current lockdown, as well as why you shouldn’t visit women who offer their services illegally!

    Austria lockdown details

The current lockdown in the country means that all retail shops, restaurants, coffee shops, clubs and any other activity venues are closed. Brothels and other types of adult entertainment establishments are forced to keep closed as well.

Locals can leave their homes to catch some fresh air, but they are not supposed to meet people unless it’s somebody that they meet on a regular basis. They can also leave if they are on their way to work or doing their job.

According to officials, the lockdown will be lifted on December 13th and all vaccinated people will be allowed to go out freely.

Apparently, stores and other types of establishments will also be opened on that day. However, seeing how this usually wasn’t the case the last time there was a lockdown in Vienna, we speculate that it will last a bit longer now too. We think that brothels and other adult entertainment venues won’t be allowed to open until at least January 2022.

For more detailed information about the current lockdown in Austria, check out the official coronavirus information website.

Effects of the lockdown on the prostitution scene in Vienna

The lockdown has obviously impacted business owners the most; however this also means that the women don’t have a legal way of working at the moment. The girls won’t just stop working as they need the money or because they don’t fear the consequences. The police fines for illegal prostitution are high, but they are nothing compared to what the women can charge amid a lockdown.

The magistrates in Vienna are also closed, which means that the women now won’t undergo medical checks until they reopen. This probably means months without them being checked for STDs and other types of diseases that you wouldn’t want to catch.

Warning against visiting illegal sex workers

Women who work from illegal apartments should not be visited, even when there is a lockdown. The cons of such a meeting definitely outweigh the pros and there are a myriad of things that can go wrong.

Not only that the women now don’t visit their doctors regularly, so there is a chance that they have STDs, but you could also get in trouble with the authorities. Additionally, the whole scenario is going to be shady and probably more stressful than pleasurable.

When a client books a meeting with an illegally working girl, she will usually first give an address that is close by, so that she could inspect the client if he is acting suspicious.

When the client has been checked that he is not an undercover cop, he will receive the real address and will be let in. Once in the building, the loverboy or pimp-figure (sometimes groups of guys) will meet the client in the stairway that is leading up to the room.

This is definitely an intimidation tactic and a huge turn-off for the client.

This only happens if the pimp even leaves the room. We’ve heard stories of the pimp being in the room while the session was happening, which is definitely not something you want to experience.

Some illegally working women also scam their clients. They either just take the money and don’t give anything in return or outright lie about agreeing to certain services.

It is important to remember that those illegally working girls are not bound by any supervision from any club or official tax paying organization. They are independent and they can do as they please.

Because of this, they can now offer mediocre services for an all-time-high price as the lockdown is making clients desperate.

Do not trust establishments that promise unrealistic opening dates

As we’ve seen previously, there will be certain establishments that promise opening times that seem too good to be true. This is usually just a publicity stunt; however this can cause huge problems for the girls. Some foreign women see the opportunity to start working again and they might travel to the country months before they can actually start making money.

A professional provider will give you all the information that is available and will make realistic predictions and no promises that can’t be kept.

    Conclusion

With everything being closed, the legal prostitution scene in Vienna has paused for the time being. Unfortunately, this also means that we are seeing a huge spike in illegal prostitution. Since illegal prostitution is currently the only option for locals as well, many clients and women are receiving huge fines from the police.

Hopefully we will see a change for the better in the prostitution scene in Vienna soon. As written, we speculate that adult entertainment venues will only be allowed to open in January 2020. Until then, go ahead and check out some of our previous articles, or join the SV Forum and share your thoughts with the community!

  • Effects of the Pandemic on the German prostitution industry

Effects of the Pandemic on the German prostitution industry

The effects of the current COVID-19 pandemic are affecting almost everything in the World as we know it. The prostitution industry is one that is heavily being damaged by the current laws and sex workers are in a substantial predicament right now. We’ve been reporting about the situation in Vienna and Austria, and we’re seeing a very similar picture in Germany too.

In this article, we will be writing about the conditions that German sex workers have to live and work in because of the current ban on legal prostitution. For more details, keep reading!

Prostitution is currently banned in Germany

As part of the new COVID-19 regulations, legal sex work in Germany has been suspended for the time being. Women are not allowed to offer sexual services and this has caused a lot of trouble for them. Since they are not allowed to work legally, many turn to illegal prostitution and offer their services regardless of the laws.

This not only puts them in a situation where they have to fear the authorities, but they are not protected from malicious clients either. Since they cannot call the police for help in case a client wants to harm them, they need to constantly live and work in fear.

In the following paragraphs, we will be writing about different sex workers in Germany and how the COVID-19 laws have affected their lives. This article is based on a BBC News video that was recently posted on their site. To see the original video we used as source, click on the link above or the video player below.

Jana, a legally working sex worker

The first woman we are introduced to is Jana. In the video, she’s showing the reporter around in the brothel where she’s been working for 23 years. Jana says that she loves her job and can’t wait to get back to the brothel and her clients.

Although currently she is not allowed to offer sexual services, she is still getting monthly support from the government which helps in paying necessary bills, such as groceries and rent. Jana also says that her job is important to society and that if it weren’t legalized, prostitution would still continue just underground and through illegal means, which wouldn’t be good for anybody.

Aisha works illegally on the streets

The second woman is Aisha who continues to work illegally on the streets even though the current laws restrict it. She isn’t legally registered as a sex worker and she has no other choice if she wants to earn money than to work illegally.

Since she isn’t a registered sex worker, she doesn’t get any help from the authorities and has to work in secret. Additionally, she is hiding from the authorities as well, so she cannot call for help if one of her clients wants to harm her or if she’s in any danger.

Current Corona Virus laws make it hard for sex workers to survive

Women who are registered still get help from the government and can survive without having to offer illegal sexual services. However, those who work illegally only get money if they continue to work.

The problem with this is that women who are working illegally don’t get any help or protection from the authorities. This means that they could be in danger because of a client and they would have nobody to turn to. Although the current laws have probably made life safer for people in general, the working conditions of sex workers have become much worse.

  • Sex-workers are fighting for survival during the tough times of the Corona Virus crisis

Sex-workers are fighting for survival during the tough times of the Corona Virus crisis

The Corona crisis is threatening the economic existence of many sex workers. In light of these events, a Dominatrix has founded a professional Association for Sex Workers.

During the summer of 2020, prostitutes in Austria were only allowed to go about their work and receive customers for four months. However, since November 2020, sex working services have been banned again due to the high number of COVID infections in the country – in brothels, sex clubs, pleasure houses and the likes there has been the dead pants situation, again.

Even in the four months of last summer when sex working was possible, business was anything but lucrative for the sex workers. Many clients decided to stay at home and did not feel like going for love services in a brothel or a sex club. And, according to the dominatrix and activist Shiva Prugger, there were several reasons why.

The beginning of the Helfen ist sexy campaign

“Due to a lot of people being affected by shorter working times or by working from home, it was not possible anymore to go to sex clubs and see a sex worker as often or as long as usual” Prugger told Radio Wien. Many of Prugger’s colleagues are struggling to merely survive. But now, with the Helfen ist sexy campaign (Helping is sexy), she is collecting donations for sex workers in need.

In addition, certain obstacles make it difficult, if not inaccessible, to get money from the hardship fund. “This is also due, for example, to the fact that as a sex worker you could not have an Austrian account number and, therefore, you could not submit the application for the hardship fund” the dominatrix adds.

According to the her, many prostitutes had already accumulated pretty big debts during the first lockdown and were now in a real financial crisis. “This also increases the pressure to ultimately work illegally,” Prugger told the Standard.

1,000 sex workers supplied with food

These are the reasons why Shiva Prugger founded the Berufsvertretung Sexarbeit (BSÖ) (Sex Work Association), to help her colleagues. This has been around since August 2020. The Sex Work Association is using the advice center SOPHIE der Volkshilfe Wien as the club’s headquarters, reports ORF Wien.

a sex worker in Wien during the corona virus pandemic

The same advice center, SOPHIE, supplied around 1,000 sex workers with food in 2020, the majority of which was financed by donations, the report says. There are almost 8,000 sex workers registered in Austria – most of them from eastern EU countries.

  • Increased number of police raids in Vienna because of the brothel lockdown

Increased number of police raids in Vienna because of the brothel lockdown

As you might already know, there is currently a lockdown of brothels in Vienna. All types of adult entertainment venues are required to be closed up until December 23, and the lockdown might even be extended after that. Since the women are not allowed to work legally, many of them turn to illegal prostitution through private apartments. Additionally, there are also owners who choose to open up their business despite the current ban that’s in effect. For more details about this and other incidents and news that happened recently in Vienna, keep on reading the post now!

Hotel owner opens business amid Corona Virus lockdown

The police have recently conducted a raid on a hotel in Vienna that was reported to be housing illegally working prostitutes. According to the police, people have been reporting frequent activity and suspicious people going in and out of the establishment.

In addition to being open amid the lockdown, the hotel was also lacking the required documents to operate legally. The owner didn’t have an operating facility permit and the establishment was lacking in fire protection equipment and the escape routes were not properly set up either.

The police have arrested six people in the raid and filed charges against more. Some of the charges were against people who were living in the establishment without reporting a new place of residence. People who spend more than three days in a hotel per week are required to register a new home address.

The owner of the hotel closed down the establishment voluntarily after the raid. The spokesperson who reported this news to the media said that if the hotel opens again illegally, the owner will lose his permit forever. The owner is only allowed to open once the ban has been lifted and the correct measures have been taken in acquiring the legal permit.

Many prostitutes turn to illegal prostitution

Since the lockdown has been introduced, we are receiving many reports of illegally operating sexworkers who work from private apartments for the time being. There have been over 30 reports filed by the police in their last raid on private apartments on November 24 and 25 against illegally operating women. After the raids, four of the twelve apartments have been closed and the owners reported and fined for allowing illegally operating ladies in the establishments.

Naturally, the increase in illegal prostitution is in correlation with the lockdown that went into effect not long ago. Since the women can’t work legally, they turn to illegal means to make money. In 2020 alone, the police had to file more than 400 reports under the prostitution act.

Escorts are allowed in Vienna even in the lockdown

We’ve recently published a post on our blog where we shared the new information about escorts being allowed to operate once again in Vienna. The current curfew rules need to be followed and proper protective measures need to be taken, but escort dates are now officially allowed again. Additionally, street prostitution is also allowed, as long as all of the rules are being followed.

For other recent legal changes in Wien, take a look at the following article on the Sex in Vienna blog: Escort in Vienna is officially allowed from today

    Conclusion

The frequency of police raids has increased exponentially since the lockdown was introduced. The women who work from apartments illegally face large fines, which is a huge problem for them in itself. Hopefully the fact that the ladies are able to go on escort dates will lower the number of illegally operated brothels and private apartments in Wien.

At this time we aren’t able to tell if adult businesses will be allowed to open after December 23. However, as soon as we receive any new information, we’ll make sure to notify you promptly. Until then, read some of our latest articles on the blog or start a conversation over on the SV Forum about anything related to the sex in Vienna!

  • Beverly Hills Club is still closed after the lockdown

Beverly Hills Club is still closed after the lockdown

As most of you already know, all brothels, clubs, Laufhauses and other types of adult entertainment establishments were closed due to the Corona virus Wien outbreak. The government restricted all similar venues from operating for a certain amount of time in order to lower the risk of the virus spreading. The Beverly Hills Club in Vienna also had to close; however, unlike other establishments in the city, Beverly Hills did not manage to re-open once the restrictions have been lifted. For further information about the club, be sure to read the full post now!

We have previously posted about the Beverly Hills Club Wien back in 2016 when it seemed like it was the end of the club’s history. If you missed that post, go ahead and read it first before you continue, as the situation the Beverly Hills Club is in now is very similar to the one a few years ago. Click on the link to read the full post: Beverly Hills Club is Broke

Background information about the Beverly Hills Club

The Beverly Hills Club was a stripclub in Vienna that was fairly successful a decade ago. However, in recent years, the club didn’t have such a successful career. If you are unfamiliar with the Beverly Hills Club, it was a place where clients could enjoy some alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while watching sexy girls dancing on the stage.

This was a striptease parlour, but unlike other similar establishments in Wien, sex with the girls was not possible. Some people speculate that this business practice was the reason for Beverly Hills’ downfall.

    Beverly Hills Club still closed?

One of the community members of the SV Forum recently asked if it is true that the Beverly Hills Vienna still hasn’t opened although all brothels were allowed to operate again since July 1st. We can confirm this, as the club is still closed and we do not have any information about when (or if) the Beverly Hills Club is going to be open again.

    Stripclub options in Vienna

Now that the Beverly Hills Club seems to be at the end of its road, there are not many strip parlours available in Vienna. In fact, Strip Club Maxim Wien is the only option in town for those who wish to watch sexy ladies undressing on the stage.

Maxim Wien and Beverly Hills were always the go-to option for striptease in Vienna, but there was always a huge difference between the two establishments. While Beverly Hills didn’t allow clients to have sex with the ladies, the Maxim Vienna club has always had this on offer. This might be the reason why it seems as though Maxim had a much better re-opening when compared to Beverly Hills.

Conclusion on Beverly Hills Club still being closed

We can confirm that the Beverly Hills Club is still closed and unfortunately we cannot say when the establishment is going to be operational again. We will make sure to keep our eyes open for any news in relation to the club and will let our readers know one way or another.

  • Germany introduces a hygiene concept for erotic services as a result of the Coronavirus

Germany introduces a hygiene concept for erotic services as a result of the Coronavirus

Prostitution is legalized and regulated in numerous European countries, such as Austria and Germany for example. However, the recent Coronavirus epidemic has shaken the foundation of legal prostitution and in a way changed it forever. As a result of the spread of the Coronavirus, many different legal measures had to be taken to slow down the rate at which people are getting infected.

Restrictions and new laws have been introduced all around the world to fight this virus and the prostitution scene is feeling these effects more than others. For example, recently the German association for erotic and sexual services has introduced a new hygiene concept that has been put into motion because of the COVID-19 disease. To learn everything there is to know about this German hygiene concept for erotic services, be sure to read the rest of the post!

Hygiene concept for sex workers meeting in apartments

Those sex workers who wish to either meet with clients in their own private apartments or other similar places have to follow certain guidelines. For example, clients are only allowed to visit the ladies if they have an appointment. The rooms need to have disposable towels, hand disinfectants and liquid soap available. The ladies are required to clean and disinfect the rooms before each meeting. The clients have to be notified on phone or by email about the necessary measures that need to be taken.

Once the suitor arrives, the ladies aren’t allowed to welcome the clients with a hug, kiss or even hand-shake. The clients have to disinfect their hands and take a shower. Additionally, both parties have to wear face masks throughout the session and the sex workers are not allowed to offer oral or any face-to-face services. Sex without protection is strictly prohibited. Bodily fluids and condoms need to be disposed in a waste bag that should be readied beforehand.

After the session, the client and the sex worker both have to take a shower. The clothes that were used need to be washed thoroughly and the client has to be notified that he should wash the clothes too when he gets home. When the suitor leaves, the ladies have to ventilate the room for at least 10 minutes, change and disinfect the bed sheets and towels that were used and remove any waste from the room. All contact surfaces (shelves, doorknobs, chairs, etc.) and sex toys need to be cleaned and disinfected. The ladies also have to keep the customer contact data for up to 4 weeks in order to be able to trace back infection chains.

    Hygiene concept for escort ladies

Much like for women who want to work from private apartments, ladies who wish to work as escorts also have to follow a certain set of rules. Escort work should also only be carried out by appointment and the contact data needs to be kept for 4 weeks. The clients need to be notified about the necessary measures beforehand and they need to also be made aware that the ladies are offering limited services. This means that all sexual services need to be carried out with a mask and that the ladies are not allowed to offer face-to-face or oral services.

Escort ladies are not allowed to hug or kiss the clients upon arrival. The ladies are required to disinfect their hands when they arrive and keep their face masks on. Before the session, the ladies, as well as the client need to take a shower. Additionally, another shower is necessary once the session has been finished. Bodily fluids and condoms need to be disposed of in a waste bag and the clothes that were worn are required to be thoroughly washed.

Once the session is over and the escort lady has left, the room needs to be disinfected and ventilated for at least 10 minutes. The bed sheets and towels that were used need to be changed and clean ones put in their place.

Hygiene concept for street working girls

Girls who wish to work on the streets are also required to follow the rules set by this new German hygiene concept. The women are required to always bring with themselves several face masks, a couple of bottles of hand disinfectants, multiple smaller waste bags and pieces of paper on which they can record the customer contact information, which is necessary for them too. The women are no longer allowed to lean into the vehicle and they should instead have the conversation outside of the car. Street sex workers also need to notify their clients of the limited offer of services.

Women who work on the street can only initiate the conversation on the street; all services must be performed indoors. This could mean vehicles or in rooms that are rented on an hourly basis. In case a room is used, all rules that apply to sexual service offering in apartments apply here too. During the session, only two people can be present in the room or vehicle and both parties must wear face masks. Women who work on the streets are not allowed to offer oral or kissing services either.

After the session, the client and the sex worker both have to disinfect their hands and dispose of any waste. In case the service took place in a vehicle, it should be ventilated for at least 10 minutes.

    Conclusion

The hygiene concept that was introduced in Germany shows how much the Coronavirus is able to change the whole prostitution scene. This new law only affects Germany, which seems to be going into a very restrictive prostitution future.

There are currently no similar laws in effect in Austria, which generally seems to be more liberal about prostitution these days. Even though in Vienna brothels are still not allowed to open for business, the women have been allowed to start going on health checks from May 20th. According to officials, Viennese brothels will be open again from July 1st. • International overview of COVID-19 and prostitution

International overview of COVID-19 and prostitution

The COVID-19 epidemic has had a tremendous impact on not only the prostitution scene in Vienna, but the whole world. We’re seeing brothels being closed in every major prostitution hub around the world and lots of women who previously worked in this field of work are now left without a job.

Since it is now almost impossible to work in this field legally, many women turn to illegal prostitution in order to get some sort of income amidst the corona virus epidemic. In this article, we will be looking at the effects of the corona virus on the whole prostitution scene everywhere around the world, so keep reading if you’re interested in these news pieces!

    Heilderberg, Germany

Like in most other cities around the world, Heilderberg in Germany also had to close down most of its clubs when the Corona virus situation became more severe. One of the biggest brothels in the city Bienenstock Eros Center had to close its doors and let the women who worked there go for the time being.

According to the owner of the brothel, they can hold off like this for a while, but not forever. He also said that the whole industry will be different once the COVID-19 situation blows over. Not only will the clients be more careful, but the ladies will be a lot more cautious too.

When the brothel was closed, the women who worked there had no other choice but to travel back to their home countries. Since there were no buses or other form of transportation, the owner of the Bienenstock Eros Center hired taxis to take the ladies back to their home cities.

Some of the ladies still try to work in this field of work, but now they do it a bit differently. For example, one of the ladies who worked in Bienenstock Eros Center now undresses in front of a web camera for tips in one of the rooms in the brothel.

    Thailand

Thailand’s prostitution scene was also hit hard by the Corona virus epidemic and over 300,000 prostitutes lost their job from one day to another. However, the difference here is that prostitution is not legalized in Thailand and because of this, the women who worked as prostitutes do not get any help from the government.

The major cities where these women worked have lost all tourist customers and cannot continue to work without clients. Most of the prostitutes in Thailand come from poor villages where they now had to go back because of lack of clients in the city. Some prostitutes who lost their jobs now try to offer their services online, but this introduces numerous new problems that they have to deal with.

    Japan

Japan is under a state of emergency too because of the Corona virus epidemic and like everywhere else; prostitutes have been left without work here too. According to a prostitute who was interviewed, before the pandemic, she had around 3-4 customers each day, which was enough for her.

However, since the country went into lockdown, everybody is staying home and she is out of work. According to her, she doesn’t know how she will be able to pay rent and buy food because she’s out of work and nobody is hiring amidst the epidemic.

The Japanese government has issued stimulus packages to people, but not every prostitute is eligible for it. Besides, in order for them to receive this money, they would essentially have to out themselves as prostitutes, which could introduce new problems.

Many prostitutes in Japan who opted for the money say that although the help they get from the government is appreciated, it’s not enough. As a result of this, prostitutes have been left on the streets and some don’t even have money to buy food for themselves.

    United Kingdom

Prostitutes in the UK are also out of work and they are not eligible to receive any government help because their line of work is not recognized as a real job. Because of this, many sex workers in the UK have to continue working illegally in order to have enough money for food and rent.

However, because of the lockdown that is in place, most of the women have lost all of their regular clients. Now, sex workers in the UK demand that their line of work should be recognized as a real job and that they should get monetary help and the other benefits that everybody else gets.

Many prostitutes who have worked in this line of work before the Corona virus pandemic now try to continue working on online platforms. However, not everyone can do this for obvious reasons.

For example, some women live with their families, so doing online shows in front of the camera is out of question. In addition, the women feel in danger even on online platforms because of the hate mail that they constantly receive. According to one sex worker, this is mostly because everybody is at home and they have a lot more time on their hand for stuff like this.

    Austria

As reported previously, all brothels and similar establishments had to be closed in Vienna. The latest news about when these places can be opened again is July 1. However, we cannot be sure that the situation will be less severe then, so this isn’t guaranteed either.

abandoned street in Vienna because of corona virus
we don’t know when life will be back to normal in Vienna

We think that escort agencies will be the first ones to start doing business again, but we cannot say when. Unfortunately, much like everywhere else, Austria’s prostitution scene has been halted by the COVID-19 virus too.

If you wish to read more about these news, check out the article that we have recently published on our blog!

    Conclusion

As you can see, the prostitution scene was hit all over the world and everyone is trying to survive this as best they can. Some people have taken to illegal prostitution, while others try their luck with on online platforms. Many women have lost their main source of income and had to travel back to their country of origin for the time being. Some governments are trying to help these women in need of help, while others simply ignore them and leave them in a very bad situation.

Unfortunately, at this time we cannot say when everything is getting back to normal and we just have to wait and see. Until then, you can read some of the previously published posts on our blog and learn more about the situation that way. • Reasons why the Corona Crisis hits Prostitution even harder than other industries

Reasons why the Corona Crisis hits Prostitution even harder than other industries

As most of you already know the current COVID-19 crisis has impacted almost every type of business and industry in the whole world. However, the prostitution scene is affected by the Corona virus even more than others. Prostitution all around the world has stopped and many women have been left without a job. What are the exact reasons as to why the Corona virus has hit the prostitution scene even harder than other industries?

    Prostitution is a social industry

One of the main and most obvious reasons why the prostitution scene was hit harder than any other industry is because this is mainly a social business. Regardless of what type of prostitution we are talking about, clients have to meet with the girls one way or another. This is even truer when we consider sex bars and saunaclubs where many clients and women are present at the same time. Continuing to go to places like this could exponentially increase the number of infected individuals, which could prolong the epidemic for an even longer period of time.

As a result of this, all brothels and similar establishments had to be closed, essentially putting the whole prostitution scene in hibernation.

Many people don’t have money for prostitutes

Another reason why the prostitution scene was hit hard by the Corona virus is the fact that many people have lost their jobs. Since their income has been lowered, and there are more essential things that also require money, most people do not have the extra cash to spend on prostitutes. Naturally, there are people who would gladly go to a prostitute even now if they were allowed to do so, but the sad truth is that a large number of clients simply cannot afford to spend money on the prostitution scene right now.

We are sure that this will get back to its normal routine, but as it currently stands, we can understand that people would rather spend their money on the most essential things.

    Borders between countries are closed

Although not all borders are closed, this still has a huge impact on tourism in Vienna. Many clients who pay for sexual services in the city travel in from abroad, which means that there’s a huge clientele loss for brothels and other similar establishments.

Of course, there are many Viennese customers too who pay for sexual services, but most clients have been businessmen from abroad. Until the borders are fully opened up and people are allowed to freely travel wherever they want, sex businesses in Vienna will keep feeling the effects of the COVID-19 virus.

Women who work in the prostitution business have travelled back to their home countries

As you might already know, most prostitutes who worked in Vienna haven’t been Austrian women. The most common nationalities in Vienna were ladies from Romania, Hungary and similar European countries. Since most of them travelled home when the epidemic started, in order not to get stranded in Austria, there are far fewer ladies in the city now. As a result of this, most brothels couldn’t even open right now because of lack of girls who could work for them.

Of course, as soon as these types of establishments are allowed to open again, we are sure that the ladies will start coming back to the city too.

Clients fear they will be infected with the Corona virus

Last, but not least importantly, one of the most obvious reasons why the prostitution scene has been hit hard by the virus is the fact that clients are simply afraid that they will get the COVID-19 virus from a prostitute. Since people can show no signs of being ill while already being infected with the virus, many clients simply do not want to take the chance.

Of course, the ladies could be tested regularly, but unfortunately even hospitals are lacking in terms of testing equipment and the supplies couldn’t and shouldn’t be used to test prostitutes.

    Conclusion

The Corona virus has definitely hit the prostitution scene hard; even harder than other industries. The infectious nature of the virus has made it very hard for prostitutes to work in the city, and most of them are simply waiting for the epidemic to end before they could get back to work. Since all brothels are closed for safety, clients cannot simply visit one of these places either. The lack of monetary means is also a huge benefactor of COVID-19’s impact on the prostitution scene.

Until the epidemic is over, we will have to patiently wait. In reality, the measures taken by the Viennese government are very helpful in stopping the spread of the virus. Everybody should stay home and practice social distancing until we can put this whole crisis behind us.
